Alliance Seed and SeCan have announced a cash settlement of $737,597 for a farmer who violated Plant Breeders’ Rights.
The settlement involved Alliance Seed, SeCan and one other seed distributor aligned against a large farming operation in southern Alberta.

The farm operation, whose name has not been disclosed, paid the settlement because of unauthorized advertisements and sales of Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) protected barley and wheat varieties.
