american journalist in ukraine today. 50-year-old filmmaker brett renaud was killed by russian forces in a suburb outside of the capital city of kyiv. let s get to the deadly russian attack on that military base. nbc s alley arouzi is in lviv for us. what new reporting do you have about the air strike earlier today? i can tell you that last night, between our live shot at almost 6:00 a.m., my crew and i heard the thumping of those air strikes. about 35 miles west of where we were. we were kind of expecting this but nonetheless, it was a surprise that it had come this far west, and those missiles were just six miles from the polish border, which is pretty close to nato territory. now, we have learned that about 30 missiles were launched into the river military air base. the ukrainian authorities here say that most of those missiles were intercepted, but they did
president biden is receiving a briefing from his national security team as we speak. u.s. forces remain on high alert in afghanistan this morning. another isis-k attack is imminent according to the latest intelligence. the u.s. embassy in kabul issuing a warning urging americans to leave the airport area immediately. biden is doubling down on his promise to retaliate for thursday s kabul attack vowing that drone strikes will continue against isis-k after friday s killed two high-profile members believed to be involve in planning attacks against u.s. forces. joining us in iran, nbc news chief alley arouzi and msnbc reporter gary grumbach. ali, we ll start with you, tell us about the new threat u.s. forces are facing in kabul and how it s impacting the evacuation plan? hey, lindsey, that s right.
