Earth Day at The Frost Museum: Events for all ages will take place, including a live event starting at 4 p.m. to explore how Everglades restoration fights climate change. All Earth Day programming is free with paid museum admission.
South Beach Canal Cleanup: The event starts at 10 a.m. at the Clear View Kayak launch located at Collins Avenue and 23
rd Street. Kayaks, gloves and trash bags will be provided along with a cocktail event after the cleanup. Tickets are $20.
Beach Cleanup at Crandon Park: The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Key Biscayne and is free to the public.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Mother Nature truly blesses Miami-Dade County nearly year-round with warm weather, sunshine, green foliage, warm waters, and more. However, with the threat of global warming and pollution looming near, it is time as Miami residents to do our part especially on the days leading up to and following Earth Day, April 22.
Below, we’ve rounded up events ranging from beach cleanups to sustainable fashion shows across the county in which you can do your part to get involved to help our city and county stay beautiful.
Three years ago, on a rainy night at the Wynwood Yard, 2 Korean Girls was conceived.
Jennifer Kaminski, who opened the delivery-and-takeout-only restaurant with her sister Michele this past December, says she put together the idea for the restaurant in a matter of a few hours after hearing that Wynwood Yard cofounder Della Heiman was hosting a pitch session for young restaurateurs to present their ideas and receive real-time feedback from hospitality veterans.
Both sisters had spent their teen years helping their mother, Chom Sunny Kaminski, at her restaurant outside South Bend, Indiana, but they d taken a different tack with their lives.
The chef says Mrs. Balloo will be an extension of Balloo, a 31-seat jewel of a restaurant in the Ingraham Building that was lauded for its intimacy of space, flavors, and stories after it opened in late November of 2019.
While Balloo focused on Timon s West Indian and Chinese heritage, Mrs. Balloo will delve into the Thai roots of his wife and partner, Marissa. This is a little more focused on Asian flavors. We re also not taking ourselves too seriously.
The name is also a nod to the Balloo household, which the chef shares with wife, Marissa, and daughters 12-year-old Kirin and Sophie, who s four. It s a houseful of females and Mrs. Balloo represents all of them, especially the great woman who has been beside me for 25 years.
