Theater District Restauranteur Joe Allen Dies At 87

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Joe Allen, longtime restaurant owner in New York City’s Theater District, has died at the age of 87.
He served dinner and cocktails to the rich and famous, but Allen was a legend in his own right.
Joe Allen Restaurant opened in 1965 on 46th Street. It became a fan favorite, where celebrities, Broadway fans and people who lived in the neighborhood dined and talked theater.
Posters of Broadway flops hang on the walls, but the restaurant was a hit.
Allen passed away Sunday in New Hampshire.
