WENATCHEE Chelan County Republican officials say they’ve made their choice for the three candidates to replace the COUNTY’S retiring prosecutor.
Douglas Shae plans to step aside May 31, after nine years in the position. The county’s GOP central committee has nominated lawyers Allen Blackmon, Robert Sealby, and Ryan Valaas, to be considered by the county commissioners.
Valaas and Blackmon are both deputy prosecutors in Shae’s office, with Valaas working in the felony division and Blackmon the chief juvenile court prosecutor; Sealby is in private practice. Under the state constitution, commissioners must choose a new prosecutor from the same political party as the departing prosecutor.
