The Democratic drama brewing in Pennsylvania's Allegheny County will come to a head on Nov. 7 when voters decide between a progressive district attorney candidate the party officially backs and a six-term incumbent, also a Democrat, who lost his primary race but won a spot on the ballot as the write-in nominee for the Republican Party.
The Allegheny County Controller oversees the operations and finances of any agency that uses county funds. Democratic incumbent Corey O’Connor faces Republican Bob Howard, appearing on the ballot after a successful write-in campaign.
The county treasurer manages billions of dollars per year, collecting revenue, and investing and disbursing these funds on behalf of the county. Incumbent John Weinstein will vacate the office, leaving a contest between Democrat Erica Rocchi Brusselars and Republican Herb Ohliger.
Sara Innamorato, the Democratic nominee for Allegheny County executive, is attacking her Republican opponent Joe Rockey, claiming he isn’t being upfront about his conservative support. Rockey, who has billed himself as a moderate and garnered some labor support, said Innamorato is lying and Innamorato is hiding her far left-wing history.
