Mandla Mandela has welcomed the public protector’s report that implicates two high-ranking Eastern Cape politicians who allegedly benefited from funds meant for his grandmother Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s memorial service. On Friday, public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane released a report saying ANC provincial chair and premier Oscar Mabuyane and party treasurer and MEC for public works and infrastructure, Babalo Madikizela, are said to have improperly benefited from R1.
It was the desire to create a better “flow” into the living areas that sparked a R450,000 renovation project at Eastern Cape premier Oscar Mabuyane’s home in East London, paid for with money siphoned from the Mbizana municipality.
