The University of Delaware School of Nursing made changes to in-person learning to ensure students continued to get the critical exposure to hands-on practice needed for success in their career. In-person simulations were expanded from one hour to four hours and observers were added to help third-year nursing students learn from different perspectives. Heiddy DiGregorio, director of simulation for SON, said many of the changes have resulted in greater independence among students and a better understanding of their role in the continuum of patient care.

The 2021 Evelyn R. Hayes Innovations in Healthcare Symposium will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, April 13, and focus on the slver linings of COVID-19 in education, practice and research, within the University of Delaware College of Health Sciences and beyond.

â Keynote address by Dr. David Willis, senior fellow at the Center for the Study of Social Policy, whose talk is entitled, âBuilding Back Better: Connecting the Medical Home and Community to advance the wellbeing of our next generation of children.
