South Holland planners approve application for traveller site in Whaplode St Catherine  | Updated: 09:43, 21 December 2020 A paddock will be used as a traveller site for one family after permission was granted. Mr and Mrs Smith applied to South Holland District Council to use land in Hurdle Tree Bank, Whaplode St Catherine for a static caravan, three touring caravan pitches along with storage sheds. Concerns were raised by a number of councillors during the last planning committee meeting about the site being outside of the local plan and that it was not in walking distance of amenities. Planning Applications (42839833) Coun Allan Beal said: “Within our local plan it suggests that traveller sites should be in a sustainable location and it seems to me to be creating a precedent that will pick a hole in our local plan.”
