Christian Nationalist Republicans are legislating to have every N.H. public school display the words “In God We Trust” prominently in the school’s hallway. By doing so they hope to bring back God into the public school system. It is a shameful use of our national motto, which on its own, is divisive.
The original motto, E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one) was changed in 1954 as a response to the godless communists. As an American I think the original is far superior in stating the ideals of our nation.
But if we are to have this phrase in our public schools, I can only hope that we do not limit ourselves to just one god. I suggest the word God should be changeable.
