45 million americans on alert here in the east, from the carolinas right up into the northeast. and that tornado watch, as well. so, let s get to meteorologist rob marciano, he s back in the east with us, as well, tonight. rob, time it out. reporter: well, david, you know, the cold air that powered those santa ana winds is now powering this frontal system. it s moving pretty rapidly. it s making a mess of the east coast. look at all the alerts on the map tonight. we ve got wind, we ve got floods, we ve got snow. and we ve got tornado watches from pennsylvania all the way down to south carolina. this has brought damaging winds to the tennessee valley. front itself is moving pretty rapidly. the heaviest rain will roll across the i-95 corridor after midnight and clear the coastline by tomorrow morning. a lot of wind with this as it intensifies. 30, 40, 50-mile-per-hour gusts into tomorrow morning and a lot of cold air, as well. look at the wind chills, into the teens and 20s from chicag
tweeting they might not actually have enough ballots at all of the polling locations. that s how large of a turnout they ve already seen. even some of the ballots that have been mailed in from the u.s. and across the world from mexicans abroad, they re already seeing more than double the amount of ballots come in from the last major election here. now, this hcould be, as you mentioned, definitely a transformative election. there are hundreds of seats up for grabs. we re talking about mayors, governors, the congress, both portions of the congress here, as well as that big presidential election that you mentioned, one that could really set a tone for what is next for mexico. as i ve been talking to voters, they have told me from all across mexico, really, as we were in tijuana, all the way down south, they ve been telling me the two main issues for them is violence and corruption. homicides are at an all-time high.
because at least in this part of west central africa you do have quite a few extremist groups running all the way up to the mediterranean in libya, which is pretty lawless, all the way down south to where there s some court port access as well. mostly training local forces. this mission publicly they re out there on what s called a key leader engagement, basically means going and talking to tribal leaders. what we know from our reporting, it s fast moving very difficult to get information out of africa right now, but what we know it looks like they may have been delayed by the tribal elders and that might have allowed the ambush to be sprung. we also know they didn t have directly overhead a drone monitoring them. that gives indication they did not think this mission was super high priority, it wasn t high risk. everyone inside the pentagon has said this was a, term they use quiet threat environment. so there are a lot of questions, fbi s investigating. we have several pentagon
