Keeping Christ in Christmas
Joe McKenzie
Staying safe while celebrating Christmas together is a priority for many churches this year.
For The Ark, this means seats will be disinfected between services. The congregation will wear masks as they enter and seats are socially separated into family groupings of two or more seats. The Praise band will play and a children’s element is planned as part of an hour long church service. Candlelight will be by battery-powered candles on Christmas Eve, unless they are streaming services from home.
The Ark started in Salina in 2018 and had two Christmas Eve services in 2019. This year they have grown to ‘family style services’ at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and will livestream the 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. services. They meet at Tony’s Pizza Events Center.
