Female GAA players are set to receive the same amount of funding as their male counterparts, Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers has confirmed. As it stands, male players receive €1,200 from the state while female players just €400. Speaking on RTE Radio’s Today with Claire Byrne, Minster Chambers confirmed that male funding would remain at its current level with money for female players set to be trebled. I can t stand over or defend that inequality,” he stated. We re in 2021 and this year we ve seen the GPA and WGPA has merged, underpinned by the message of equality. I think that principle has to stand when it comes to the funding of our players.

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association will commence its 2021 TG4 All-Ireland Championships in July – and following the conclusion of the 2021 Lidl National Leagues.   The LGFA’s Management Committee met last Thursday evening (April 29) to plan fixtures for the coming months, following the latest Government announcement.   The decision was taken to commence the TG4 All-Ireland Championships on the weekend of July 10/11, with the All-Ireland Finals pencilled in for Sunday, September 5.

10-time All-Ireland winning Cork manager Eamonn Ryan has passed away

10-time All-Ireland winning Cork manager Eamonn Ryan has passed away January 14, 2021 Eamonn Ryan, who led Cork to 10-All-Ireland Ladies SFC titles, has sadly passed away. Ryan led Cork to senior honours in 2005 and then followed up with an amazing nine more titles in the next ten years. The Glenville/Watergrasshill clubman also helped Cork to nine league titles. He stood down from the Ladies management role in 2015 and then served as a member of the Cork mens’ football side for three years. Ladies Gaelic Football Association President Marie Hickey has paid tribute to former Cork Senior team manager Eamonn Ryan.
