LAKEWOOD – All Georgian Court University students living on campus in the fall will have to be fully vaccinated, according to university officials.
To help reach that goal, the university is holding a pop-up vaccination center on campus Monday, with University President Joe Marbach first in line to get the shot.
While the free vaccination program is aimed at Georgian Court students and staff, it is open to all residents, in and out of Lakewood.
The clinic offering comes as Lakewood, with a population of about 100,000, struggles to turn the corner on the coronavirus. The largest town in Ocean County, Lakewood is also the Shore leader with some 13,600 COVID cases in the last year. Its vaccination rate of 34% is among the lowest for communities with more than 10,000 residents, according to Gov. Phil Murphy s office, which released new data this week.
