A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of 19-year-old Muhammed Mujahid Hussain last week. Hashim Sajjad, 19, of Wheatlands Crescent, Bradford, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court today. He has also been charged with attempt section 18 wounding with intent, alongside three other males who were arrested as part of the investigation into Mr Hussain’s death. This relates to an unconnected incident on April 8 on Lower Westfield Road, where a 17-year-old male was left with serious injuries. The other three males charged with attempt section 18 wounding with intent are a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Dressed in a grey jumper and bottoms and a blue face covering, Sajjad spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. It is alleged that the teenager, whose family were present in the courtroom murdered 19-year-old Muhammed Mujahid Hussain late on Thursday, April 22, following large scale disorder in Duckworth Lane. Mujahid Hussain turned up at Bradford Royal Infirmary with a single knife wound shortly after midnight last Friday, and died from his injuries a short time later.
