Just a generation ago, an HIV diagnosis was a death sentence, and that sentence was always punctuated with an exclamation point. Doctors and loved ones watched helplessly, uselessly, as patients promenaded into a final, starless night. It was a time when all polite folk and most impolite folk simply wanted to la-la-la wish away this new virus, along with everyone infected by it.

Dining out looks a little different right now, but you can still support local restaurants and a good cause.
The Dining Out for Life event is Thursday.
The special event supports The Aliveness Project, which works to help promote wellness and social justice for communities most impacted by HIV/AIDS.
At participating restaurants around Minnesota, part of diner s bills will be donated to the program.

Meteorologist Sven Sundgaard has filed a lawsuit against TEGNA Inc., alleging discrimination in the wake of his firing by KARE 11 last spring.
Sundgaard filed the lawsuit in late March, claiming sexual orientation discrimination, hostile work environment and reprisal in violation of the Minnesota Human Rights Act and defamation in violation of state law during his 14 years at the station.
