CALGARY Beginning this weekend, visitors to the Calgary Zoo will encounter 26 new animatronic dinosaurs in the redesigned prehistoric park. The Dinosaurs Awakened exhibit, with 17 dinosaur species represented, will open to the public Friday morning and is included with zoo admission or membership. Visitors will marvel at the size of these magnificent life-like creatures that move, sound, and exhibit behaviours of these giants of the past, said Alison Archambault, Calgary Zoo s director of brand & engagement. This exhibit will inspire visitors to think and engage with dinosaurs in a new way, challenging old notions of what they may have looked like!

CALGARY Fans of dinosaurs and their suspected bathroom habits and escape rooms are in luck as the Calgary Zoo has unveiled some of its plans to attract visitors amidst the pandemic. This year will see the return of Locked Zoo, a large zoo-wide escape experience similar to escape rooms that proved popular in 2020. The Locked Zoo concept had been an idea book for a very long time and the special experiences team figured out how we could do it, said Alison Archambault, Calgary Zoo s brand and engagement director. Then they worked with Alberta Health Services to ensure that what we were proposing was safe.
CALGARY While you won t be able to meet up with anyone outside your household for leisure gatherings this holiday season, the province says you won t be in trouble if you gather in outdoor areas for fitness-type activities. Premier Jason Kenney, Alberta s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw and Health Minister Tyler Shandro laid out the province s updated rules regarding outdoor events during Tuesday s announcement. According to the rules from Nov. 27, the province limited outdoor gatherings to no more than 10 people. Now, no outdoor gatherings of any kind are allowed. Unlike the other restrictions announced during the update, the ban on outdoor gatherings is effective immediately, Kenney said, adding that such situations lead to the largest increases in cases.
