The Skanner News - Community Group Meets to Discuss Vision for Albina Arts Center

In 2016, after decades of the building falling into disrepair, the Oregon Community Foundation accepted temporary ownership of the one-story structure, at the request of the state of Oregon. Now, OCF is in the process of figuring out how to gift the building back to a Black-led non-profit that is willing to center arts, healing and intergenerational community-building within the space, in perpetuity.

Lise Davis Unable to Attend 4th on Broadway Parade

After a year off due to COVID-19, Lubbock s annual 4th on Broadway celebration will be held on Saturday, July 3. However, the Grand Marshall for this year s SONIC Parade, Lise Davis, will be unable to attend Saturday s parade. Ms. Davis is the widow of Country Music Hall of Famer Mac Davis who passed away in September of last year. “We’ve had flight reservations for weeks for her to be able to get her for the festivities,” said Don Caldwell, Broadway Festivals president and executive director. “Her flights have been canceled; we’ve tried multiple airlines and a number of solutions, but to no success.”
