The Optimise Study, a research partnership led by Burnet Institute and the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (Doherty Institute), has been following a group of over 300 participants from key groups for the past six months. The latest findings reveal stigma as a pervasive and significant barrier to COVID-19 testing that transcends age and cultural differences in the Australian community.

Burnet Viral Hepatitis Group Research Assistant, Dr Ned Latham, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, which he will use to undertake a Master of Public Health at Columbia University in New York City. Dr Latham said he was thrilled at the prospect of being able to study in the United States and further his interest in addressing hepatitis C and other infectious diseases in Australia and abroad.
