actually, i ve studied a lot with protective orders for partner violence, and about half of those women are stalked by that abusive violent partner, and what our data shows is that protective orders, half of the stalkers, 55 to 65 percent of those being stalked, the year before the protective order stopped stalking after that protective order was granted, however, for that 35, 45 percent, they were persistent stalkers and they were dangerous, they were more violent, more abusive, more property destruction, more time lost at work, greater victim fear, victim distress, as you might imagine. so in many cases protective orders do help. and my question is, if someone is going to kill, why not try, why not address the issue. megyn: yeah, and i ll tell you that i ve spoken with the family of alisa blanton and they are angry that an order of protection was not granted, she said she was angry that it was not
