The science of life is that of the “
Unity of the Opposites”. While they stand in contradiction to one another, they are also interdependent. For where there’s no life, there will be no death. And where there’s no death, it then means that life had never existed.
The understanding of life scientifically is the coordinated activities of the element of matter. For example, solid, liquid and gas into a being guided by rational thoughts and emotions.
But life outside the understanding of science can be said to be emotional attachments to relationships between individuals either as Parents/Children, Husbands/Wives, Brothers/ Sisters, Friends/Foes.
Is this however the case in Nigeria? This is a poser which Dr. Omano Edigheji unravelled in his newly presented 197-page book titled, “Nigeria Democracy Without Development: How to fix it” published by A’lime Media Limited.
The author who is a renowned political economist, development practitioner and governance expert is concerned that democracy has only survived for over two decades without commensurate developmental trajectory.
“This book makes a worthy argument for a democracy of purpose. It is a timely call for democracy to propel institutions and measures that substantially improve the lives of citizens, develop the economy and improve the processes for selecting and electing leaders,” said Mallam Nasir El-Rufai in praising the book.

The transition to a democratic system of governance in Nigeria has been characterised by a lack of development; sadly, 21 years down the line and not much has changed.
The #EndSars protests and its effects bear credence to the stunted development of the nation since democracy.
Much more than the dehumanising treatment of youths by the now-defunct unit, the protests were spurred by the pent-up anger over the maladministration, injustice, high fuel and energy prices, hunger, and dehumanising policies of the government.
This and many other crucial issues were discussed at the launch of the book “Nigeria: Democracy without Development. How to fix it”, written by Dr. Omano Edigheji.
