Singapore agencies fuel wanderlust with NTO tie-ups

Travel agencies continue to keep Singaporean travellers engaged during the downtime via creative collaborations with various NTOs. It’s a snowy December afternoon in Santa Claus’ Finnish homeland Rovaniemi. The sales director of Santa’s Hotel, Eveliina Korhonen, enters a cosy wood-panelled room that is the reception of Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle, a glass-roofed igloo hotel nestled a stone’s throw away from Santa Claus Village, which lies right on the Arctic Circle. Korhonen is bringing Singaporean travellers on a virtual tour of the hotel in Lapland, giving them a glimpse into the interiors of a glass igloo, ideal for spotting northern lights. The hotel houses 71 climate-controlled, glass-roofed igloos tucked in the snow, each kitted out with modern-day amenities. Korhonen demonstrates how guests can set the aurora alarm on their in-room tablets to alert them when the northern lights appear, so they do not miss out.

Singapore to have five long public holiday weekends in 2022, amid hopes travel can resume; 24 imported Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (April 6)

SINGAPORE, April 6 (The Straits Times/ANN): For freelance facilitator Angie Woo, 56, low numbers of Covid-19 infections in some countries and Singapore s own vaccination drive are feeding hopes that international travel may be back on the cards next year. At this point I m dying to get out, she said. Places like Australia and Taiwan seem good options as they have low infection numbers. Woo, who was vaccinated in January, hopes that if enough people are vaccinated, quarantine requirements between countries with low infection rates may be relaxed. And the mother of two children in their 20s hopes to be able to use some of the long weekends next year for a family vacation.
