A big thank you to everyone placing a Christmas ornament along the Alice Keene walking trail. It made my walk even more enjoyable. Please do it again next year.
BYH to the FedEx guy who left a package on my front steps positioned so I could not open the door and get it. But it really wasnât that much trouble to go out a different door to retrieve it, so we can still be friends. So this is an actual BYH and not a sarcastic one.
At Greenville Mall you can see student artwork on the walls. Bless your heart to whoever did their take on Edvard Munchâs âThe Scream.â It reminds me of when Kevin was putting on shaving lotion in âHome Alone.â
A youth coach, a karaoke-loving couple and a teen who worked with incarcerated fathers were among nine people recognized for their service in the community this week.
Eight of them earned the Governorâs Volunteer Service Awards, which typically is presented in April during National Volunteer Week, said Alice Keene, Pitt County special projects coordinator, but COVID-19 restrictions prevented in-person recognition of the volunteers.
With those restrictions still in place, the Pitt County Board of Commissioners honored the recipients during its virtual meeting on Monday.
Keene said the governorâs office allows counties to submit up to 10 individuals for the award, which recognizes North Carolinians who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors.
