I would like to overlook the gloom in the land of my birth today so that I can revisit an emerging significant story again about Borno State where the governor continues to inspire his people with good deeds nurtured by good thinking. I have devoted several topics to Zulum and his politics here. Don’t get it twisted, Zulum isn’t an impresario or an attention seeker. As I was saying, I have never met or spoken with him or his agents or aides. Only the works and services of the significant scholar in Borno State government house have impressed me. Don’t begin to think that his bribes have made a way for him regularly here. Even in classical and modern public relations management, let your works and products make a way for you. Local council elections were suspended for over 10 years as a result of the relentless attacks by insurgents on communities leading to the death of thousands of people and the destruction of property worth billions of naira.
With the gradual return of peace, the state authorities agreed and held elections for the positions of chairmen in the 27 LGAs as well as councillorships in 312 wards on November 28 this year.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the contested positions in the election.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum who called on the elected officials to discharge their “duties with the fear of God, but without fear or favour”.

Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Wednesday presided over the swearing-in of 27 elected chairmen of local government areas, among them, two University professors and PhD holders, raising the standard of leadership at LG levels. The two professors include Adamu Alooma, a Professor of banking and finance, also former Dean, at the faculty of management sciences in University of Maiduguri, who took oath to become chairman of Damboa local government area, and Ibrahim Bukar a Professor of education, also from UNIMAID, sworn-in as chairman of Gwoza LGA. Both Professors took part in the statewide LG chairmanship and councilorship elections held on November 28, which the APC won with landslides.

Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday swore in 27 elected chairmen of local government areas including two university professors and a Ph.D holder.
The two professors were Adamu Alooma, a Professor of Banking and Finance who is also former Dean at the faculty of Management Sciences in University of Maiduguri, who took oath to become chairman of Damboa Local Government Area, and Ibrahim Bukar, a Professor of Education, also from the same university, sworn-in as chairman of Gwoza Local Government Area.
