Judge refuses to drop charges against accused cop killer
LOS ANGELES - In a rebuke to DA George Gascón’s new directives, a judge on Monday refused to drop all special charges against an accused cop killer charged in the execution-style killing of an off-duty LA County Sheriff’s deputy, and the murder of an innocent skateboarder.
Judge Jose Sandoval denied a motion put forth by a prosecutor under the direction of Gascón to dismiss all gun enhancements and special circumstances of multiple murders against Rhett Nelson, accused of murdering deputy Joseph Solano and Russian skateboarder Dmitry Koltsov in 2019.

The San Diego County DA has sent newly-elected Los Angeles County DA George Gascón a scathing letter criticizing his policies.
LOS ANGELES - The San Diego County District Attorney has sent newly-elected Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón a scathing letter criticizing his policies as not in the interest of justice, and rescinding permission for Gascón to prosecute an accused Los Angeles cop killer’s San Diego armed robbery charges.
Police say just one hour before that, Nelson
shot and killed 31-year-old Russian skateboarder Dmitry Koltsov. Deputy Solano died in the hospital.

FOX 11 has now confirmed that Gascon s office is seeking to dismiss all gun enhancements and special circumstances of multiple murders against Nelson. If a judge signs off on the dismissals, life without parole would be off the table for Nelson if he were to be convicted, and he could potentially be released from prison at some point in the future.
Solano s murder was deeply mourned by the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department, and by the public:
Gascón s office confirmed to Melugin that it is seeking to remove the sentencing enhancements, and justified it by arguing that it was not in the public interest to keep an inmate in prison for life at high cost if he had been rehabilitated:
Soros DA wants a cold-blooded cop killer to get a light sentence
The new Soros-funded LA district attorney George Gascon, a Marxist, ruined San Francisco. He was a police chief turned DA who had never tried a case. Even in San Fran, he wasn’t going to be re-elected, so he went to LA and became the DA. Soros alone gave his campaign $2 million.
BACKGROUND
Under George Gascon, approximately 61 of the 140 or so attorneys left the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, 24 in the last 8 months of 2019 alone. More than half of those leaving in those final four years were women, and more than a third were people of color. You can’t prosecute under an inept manager.
