FG promises Agric projects for Cross River

Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Mohammed Nanono, on Wednesday, promised Federal Government’s intervention in Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency of Cross River State in the execution of projects to boost agriculture revolution in the area.
The commitment came after the lawmaker representing the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Alex Egbona paid a courtesy call on the minister.
The minister said it was gratifying to know of the agricultural potentials of the federal constituency and noted the readiness of his ministry to support farmers in the constituency.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has come under fire on social media following a leaked memo conveying the approval of N30m for the construction of a ‘Friday’ mosque with taxpayers’ funds.
The memo, dated December 10, 2020, with reference number FMA/PROC/AHS/SIP/2020/7742/1, stated that the Ministerial Tenders Board approved the contract.
The ministry is led by Kano-born Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Nanono, who was appointed by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in 2019.
The document titled, ‘Award of Contract for the Construction of Friday Mosque’ was signed by the Deputy Director, Procurement, Musa Musa on behalf of the minister and was addressed to the Managing Director, El-Shukhur Multi-Buz Nig. Ltd.

The federal government in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other stakeholders will soon roll out a Special-Agro Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Programme aimed at concentrating agro-processing activities in demarcated areas to boost productivity and integrate production, processing and marketing of selected commodities.
Under the programme, the Nigerian Government, in collaboration with the AfDB and working with other stakeholders such as the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Bank of Industry (BoI) will demarcate areas across the 36 states and the FCT where the agro-processing centres will be established.
140 of such centres being envisaged across the country, would be provided with basic infrastructure such as water, electricity and roads as well as facilities for skills training.
