The Chairman, Federal University Dutse Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Alti has announced the appointment of Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad as new Vice Chancellor of the University.
The Chairman made the announcement in a press briefing at the university Senate Building shortly after the selection of the new Vice Chancellor. He said, “Appointment of the new Vice Chancellor followed the expiration of the tenure of the present Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatima Batulu Muktar by February, 10 2012.”
Alti explained that the governing council of the university constituted a selection committee after advertising the position and 36 people applied.
“The selection committee screened and interviewed the candidates, where selected winners of the first, second and third position was made, and among them one has been selected through voting by the members of the governing council of the institute, Alti emphasised.
Presenting his letter of appointment at the University’s Senate Chambers, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Alti said Mohammed was selected out of the three top candidates among the 35 candidates who jostled for the job.
“The Selection Committee worked for one, to interview and screen about 35 applicants. After the Board had done their work, they finally came up with the highest scorer of the selection and the interview, which three of them emerged.
“Then, the whole Governing Council was invited to come and receive the report of selection board, where the three candidates, according to the law were presented to the Governing Council.
