On February 9th, Algoma Police responded to the 400 block of Fourth street in reference to a ‘young juvenile’ that had drowned. The Algoma Police Department says Cheyanne Wierichs of Algoma was taken into custody Monday, February 15 on charges of Neglecting a Child resulting in death, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine. She was booked into the Kewaunee County Jail without incident. Algoma Police have not specified Wierichs’ relation with the 7 month old or released her age.
