MARQUETTE The Lake Superior Community Partnership will host its Annual Celebration virtually at 4 p.m. Thursday.
This event is the LSCP’s largest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds benefit economic development in Marquette County. During the celebration, they will also be honoring this year’s Distinguished Service Award winners. The individual recipient for 2021 is Scott Erbisch, Marquette County Administrator. Scott is very involved in many community groups and organizations. He currently serves as an LSCP Board Member, a United Way of Marquette County Board Member, is a Marquette County Ambassador and was recently appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Municipal Services Authority Board and Executive Committee.
MARQUETTE, MI February is Career Technical Education (CTE) month, and the annual publication that details related opportunities in Marquette and Alger counties has transitioned from a print to a digital format in its seventh year.
The online magazine includes descriptions and videos related to programs that prepare individuals for many of the country’s most in-demand occupations.
“The 11 high schools in Marquette and Alger Counties, along with NMU, offer hands-on training programs in healthcare, professional trades, business, cyber security, culinary arts and cosmetology,” said Stu Bradley, chair of the Marquette Alger CTE Committee, which created the electronic publication with NMU. “About 50% of the students in our two counties are enrolled in CTE programs. The goal of our committee is to help high school students make the best possible career decisions before they graduate.
