The public supply of water for human consumption in the Algarve is guaranteed for a period of one and a half years, despite the fact that the region's dams.
Algarve registers highest water consumption per inhabitant
The Algarve registered the highest water consumption per inhabitant in 2019.
On average, each inhabitant in the region consumed just under 138,000 m3 (137,612.6 m3) of water at home that year.
According to data from PORDATA, Algarve cities occupied seven of the top ten cities in Portugal with the highest water consumption, with Aljezur placed first in the ranking.
