Preventing the growth of native organisms. Scientists say it appears to thrive in our warmer waters. It shows just how fragile some of our marine ecosystems can be. Justin told us more, from anglesey in wales. All these records are important because what they tell us is the story of ever increasing temperatures, but the run of records that we have had isjust extraordinary. As you say, 11 months and a new Monthly Record for temperatures in the air, and new treatment year where every single day has been a Record Temperature for the day, and these have not been broken by a small margin, theyre not being edged past, they being smashed, so around 47 days over the course of the last year, the temperature, the previous High Temperature, the previous High Temperature was exceeded by no. 3, a third of a degree, celsius. Of international pressure, seizing the Border Crossing with egypt. The un Secretary General, antonio guterres, has warned that a full scale assault on rafah would cause a humanitarian nightmare. Qatar has called for International Intervention to prevent the city from being invaded. Our middle east correspondent, yolande knell, is injerusalem. We know that for weeks now the us has been warning israel against a full scale offensive of rafah. This really because of the high numbers of displaced people who are living in that city, crammed up next to the border with egypt. Hello and welcome to the bbc news at one. In the last hour, the mp Natalie Elphicke has become the latest conservative to defect to the labour party. Natalie elphicke has been the mp for dover in kent since 2019. Our chief Political Correspondent Henry Zeffmanjoins Me from The Houses Of Parliament henry, was this a surprise . It was a shock. If you had asked me before this afternoon to list 100 conservative mps most likely to defect to the labour party, Natalie Elphicke would have been nowhere near that list. And i think that was reflected in the faces of conservative mps at prime ministers questions, as keir starmer announced at the start of his question that he wanted to welcome her to the labour side. Mps had not noticed her there, and they were expressing to bewilderment to each other. Natalie elphickes announcement will hurt rishi sunak, because she goes for him on an issue that is central to his attempt to recover his political position. She accuses him of failing on small boats.
