+ February 02, 2021 OVER the past several decades, many groups and individuals have inquired about the historical profile of the Negros Occidental Historical Council Inc. (NOHCI). Hence, due to various requests, our NOHCI Board has seen fit to provide this brief historical profile of our organization. The start of the year is a significant date as our organization as it was originally created by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental under the Provincial Board Resolution No. 33, dated January 15, 1971 and this year is the 50th year of the NOHCI.
The NOHCI founder was the late Governor Alfredo Montelibano Jr. After the needed organizational processes, the Council was operationally constituted with the appointment of the initial Board of Directors, with Aurelio Locsin as the first Chairman and Fr. Pedro Lerga, OAR; Fr. Bienvinedo Junquera, OSA; Provincial School Superintendent, Fe Dignadice; Nicholas Ledesma and Rolando Espina as Directors.
