The national minister of public service, Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro on his arrival in Yambio last week called upon the citizens of Western Equatoria State to be united and celebrate Christmas peacefully.
Bakosoro who was received by a mammoth crowd assured the public that there is no going back to war anymore, citing that any person who has a problem is welcome for peace talks in Rome.
“We are all citizens of Western Equatoria so we have to come and celebrate Christmas here at home. I have been away for five years so I have come to see my house. I did not come for anything but only to celebrate Christmas here in peace and unity. There is no going back to war, anyone who has a problem with me is welcome for peace talks in Rome in Italy,” Bakosoro said.
Yambio forms a joint security force for the festive season
The government of Western Equatoria State Wednesday formed a joint security force to monitor and combat crime in Yambio town during the upcoming festive season.
More than 400 security personnel comprising police, the army, fire brigade, wildlife, prisons, and the National Security Service will be deployed in four zones of Yambio Town, Masia Market, Poso, Yambio Main Market, and Suk Siro.
Addressing the joint forces, the governor of Western Equatoria State, Alfred Futuyo Karaba, gave directives to the commanders to refrain from drunkenness and monitor their forces to deliver services to the communities during the season.
National security office inaugurated in Yambio
The national minister for security in the office of the president, General Obuto Mamur Mete, on Saturday officially inaugurated the new office of the National Security Service in Yambio, Western Equatoria State.
The construction of the newly inaugurated storied building which will be the national security headquarters in Yambio was launched in 2009 by the then government of Sudan under the directive of President Salva Kiir.
Speaking during the inauguration, the security minister called on members of the national security in the state to work closely with the local people to protect the country’s resources.
