UPDATE, Tuesday, Jan. 19 Alfred Fire Department Chief Chris Carpenter and Alfred Fire Rescue said Tuesday that seven of the 45-person department currently have active cases of COVID-19; they are self-isolating.  Ten employees have been identified as close contacts, and are quarantining. Carpenter says they will be able to return to work as early as next week.

Share Updated: 3:05 PM EST Jan 16, 2021 The town of Alfred announced on Facebook Saturday that Alfred Fire and Rescue has been shut down due to multiple staff members testing positive.Town selectman say until the fire station gets the all clear, all Alfred fire and emergency calls will be covered by the City of Sanford, and the Towns of Waterboro, Lyman, Goodwins Mills and Kennebunk.The selectmen urged everyone to continue calling 9-1-1 for any emergency needs.
