Mapfre Middlesea AGM was held remotely and streamed live on its website. Commenting on the year under review, chairman Martin Galea remarked that Mapfre Middlesea and Mapfre MSV Life have both performed well in spite of the pandemic. Both companies posted excellent returns. While Mapfre Middlesea posted a profit after tax of €4.12 million (2019 €4.01 excluding Group Dividends), Mapfre MSV Life posted a profit of €10.33 million (2019 €11.75 million) of which half is attributable to Mapfre Middlesea (the remaining half being owned by the bank). Due to these excellent returns Mapfre Middlesea will be issuing a net dividend of €3.20 million being 77.7 per cent of the company profit.
Private eye engaged by journalist to spy on ex-wife is jailed
A man has been jailed for acting as an unlicensed private investigator on behalf of a former Times of Malta columnist and Shift News journalist

Attard was also accused of harassing Borg s estranged wife and lawyer Kevin Mompalao and his family.
Borg was most recently a Times of Malta columnist and also worked as a journalist with The Shift News.
Attard was charged with acting as a private guard without a licence.
The court had to appoint a legal aid lawyer for Attard after his previous lawyer, the second one he had engaged in the course of the proceedings, had renounced the brief, citing lack of cooperation on the accused’s part.
A man has been jailed for six months after he was found guilty of working as a private investigator to follow and take photographs of his employer’s ex-wife to be exhibited during separation proceedings.
Alfred Attard, 48, from St Paul’s Bay was convicted of acting as an unlicensed private investigator on behalf of journalist Victor Paul Borg and harassing the man’s estranged wife and her lawyer, Kevin Mompalao .
The court heard how the case had started after Mompalao filed a criminal complaint against the accused and Borg, accusing Attard of acting as an unlicensed private investigator and harassing him and his family.
