Rep. Gregory W. Porter, D-Indianapolis, issued the following statement upon the adjournment of the annual meeting of the Fiscal Policy Interim Study Committee:
If approved by the full Council, the program would be funded through the citys share of the national opioid settlement with opioid manufacturers and distributors. Indiana is slated to receive $507 million, which will be distributed across the state.
The Indianapolis Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee was expected Wednesday to approve a proposed $800,000 grant program to tackle the opioid crisis.
