Jack (left) and Alfie win two prestigious awards last for the charity work in the community Two talented Vale singers have been announced the winners of two prestigious awards after the work the did in their local community during lockdown. Alfie King, 12 and Jack Mullen, 15  had been nominated for Unsung Hero of the Year at the Sunday Mail Young Scot awards, after performing outside care homes and to neighbours in Dumbarton and the Vale who have been shielding over lockdown. However at a virtual ceremony last night, the kind-hearted duo were also named Young Scots of the Year. And the award came as a shock to both boys who attended virtually, with Alfie heard exclaiming We won! as it was announced by TV presenter Jean Johansson.

TWO young Bankies have been named as finalists in the 2021 Young Scot awards for their generosity towards others during the pandemic. Mollie-Rose Shields and Demi Lee Kelly both featured on the awards shortlist when it was published last week. Mollie-Rose, 11, caught the eye of the judges after the Post featured her generosity towards her neighbours in the early days of the first coronavirus lockdown a year ago. The St Eunan’s Primary pupil used her own money during the initial lockdown to buy Easter eggs for her neighbours, sparking donations from members of the public which enabled her to give out 600 more eggs around the community.
