Alexis board supports tourism program

Alexis board supports tourism program By Sheila Pressley ALEXIS  The Alexis Village Board this week expressed its support for Mercer County’s “side-by-side” tourism program, MerCo Trails. Following discussion during the regular board meeting Monday, trustees approved a resolution to issue a letter of support for the effort to promote utility vehicle tourism in Mercer County. In a telephone interview Thursday, Mercer County Economic Development Director Kasi Hinshaw explained the side-by-side program. Participants will pay an annual fee to Visit MerCo for a registration sticker that will allow them to operate UTVs on designated roads in the county (the MerCo Trails system). UTVs are small off-road/on-road vehicles. Stickers cost $50 for Mercer County residents, $75 for non-residents.
