The music room at Mashpee Middle-High School may look a little emptier than it has in years past, but that does not mean the room is quieter than normal.
In the back of the room, âmusic closetsâ are set up for vocal ensemble students to practice their music in school. Normally storage closets, these rooms have been converted to miniature recording studios. They have everything a student could need: a computer, microphones, keyboards, guitars and amplifiers. An individual student can enter the room, close the door, take off a mask and record music before safely disinfecting and leaving.
âEven with the masks and social distancing, if we werenât to have those rooms, we wouldnât be able to sing with masks on, so it really, really helps. Itâs whatâs giving us an opportunity to continue doing music,â senior Alexia Brandt said.
