The Fayetteville Observer
Years ago, I covered the Linden Town Council and would drive the more than 20 miles from Fayetteville for the 8 p.m. council meetings.
It was pleasant enough duty. But I was invariably sleepy on the way back. Looking back it’s a miracle I did not wreck.
Sometimes, I was the only nonofficial person at the meeting and was always treated well. I found nothing different from Linden than you might see in any little town in southeastern North Carolina.
So I don’t now why a pagan group known for whites-only services and designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center took a look at a map and chose Linden to settle in. It could be because that’s where they were able to get a church building in this region of the country.
