Fitchburg police arrest man in connection with hit-and-run involving 7-year-old girl July 22, 2021 3:58 PM Brandon Arbuckle Updated: FITCHBURG, Wis. Fitchburg police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run crash from Sunday. A news release said a detective with the police department found the suspect’s vehicle abandoned in a parking lot Monday more than one mile away from the crash scene. Investigators collected other evidence and identified the driver who was allegedly involved. Alexander Hernandez Gutierrez, 18, was was taken into custody without incident Wednesday and booked into the Dane County Jail for a probation violation. Officials said a charge of felony hit-and-run causing injury and citations for operating after revocation, operating without insurance and failure to notify police of an accident will likely be sent to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office by the end of the week.
