A senior political source said: The strength of the Queen s words would help convey the importance of a combined effort to combat the worst ravages of the virus.
In a first, the speech will be available on Amazon Alexa smart devices, so more people from around the world can listen in at the time it is broadcast on TV and afterwards. It caps an unprecedented year of momentous addresses by The Queen, 94, who has been evoking the wartime spirit in the fight against Covid.
This time she is expected to pay tribute to those battling to find a vaccine, and everyone else who has gone the extra mile to keep Britain and the Commonwealth going during the pandemic.

The Queen s Christmas Day message will be available through Alexa smart devices this year, Amazon has announced.
From 3pm on Christmas Day, people will be able to say Alexa, play the Queen s Christmas Day message or Alexa, play Queen Elizabeth s Christmas Day message .
The message will be able to be heard on Amazon Echo speakers around the world, with language settings of British English, or American, Australian, Canadian or Indian varieties of English.
Eric King, director of Alexa Europe, said: After a challenging year, millions of people from across the Commonwealth will be eagerly awaiting Her Majesty the Queen s message on Christmas Day.
Queen Elizabeth s Christmas Day Message Will Be Available on Amazon s Alexa
Queen Elizabeth will still be holding her annual Christmas message this year, but it will be just a bit different.
The Palace announced today that the 94-year-old sovereign’s annual message she has delivered throughout the years, will now be available on Amazon’s Alexa devices.
“After a challenging year, millions of people from across the Commonwealth will be eagerly awaiting Her Majesty the Queen’s message on Christmas Day,” Alexa Europe director
Eric King said. “By creating this world-first innovation, just as we did in 2012 with the release of the Queen’s Christmas speech on Kindle, we hope that even more people will be able to enjoy the uplifting words of Her Majesty.”
