COVID-19 long-haulers deal with changes in taste and smell months later

View Comments Alex Visser, a healthy 26-year-old who lives on the east side of Milwaukee, was diagnosed with COVID-19 in late November 2020.  His symptoms were mild, a sore throat and a cough. But like a lot of COVID-19 patients, he also temporarily lost his senses of taste and smell. Those senses began to come back normally, but then changed.  Two months later, his taste is still really off.  The best way I can describe it, is a lot of things just taste burnt, he said. Like someone absolutely just nuked a pizza in the oven, and then drizzled a super foreign, almost alien sauce on it.
