Other parties did not get a look-in in South Bucks today as the Conservatives triumphed again. Only Alison Wheelhouse in Beaconsfield and Paul Griffin in Iver were not Tory party winners. In Beaconsfield, Alison gained 1,620 votes, while former education cabinet member Anita Cranmer was elected with 1,726 votes and town councillor Jackson Ng got the most with 1,771. Labour candidates Louise Kavanagh and Ian Tunnacliffe didn t fare too well in Beaconsfield, gaining 368 and 241 respectively and putting them in eighth and tenth place - out of 10. In Cliveden, Zoe Hatch stepped up to the task for the Green Party again after unsuccessfully running for the Beaconsfield constituency in the General Election in 2019, but it wasn t to be yet again - gaining a respectful 1,099 votes.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Devils Lake scored five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back on the way to a 19-4, five inning win over Valley City in Eastern Dakota Conference baseball Saturday afternoon in Devil Lake.
In the top of the first, pitcher Max Elfman helped his cause with a bases loaded walk to score Parker Swanson who walked to start the inning. Beau Brodina brought in Caleb Schneider and Justin Blake with a two run single. Simon Beach scored courtesy runner Parker Brodina with a double to make it 4-0. The Beau Brodina scored on an error to make 5-0 Firebirds.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Zach Ziegler had three hits to lead Grand Forks Central and pitched five strong innings as the Knights downed Valley City 10-2 in the season opening baseball game for both teams. The Knights took the second game 2-1 in three innings. The game was shortened due to rain.
Ziegler scored a run and helped his own cause with an rbi single in the five run fourth. Mason Lima also had three hits, two were bunt singles. San Strandell had two hits and drove in two runs. Ty Lorenz had a two run double in the second inning. And Cole Barta added a two run single in the fourth.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Wahpeton started the second half on a 19-3 to turn a four point halftime lead into a 20 point lead and Valley City never recovered as the Huskie picked up a 83-65 win over the Hi-Liners on Senior night.
Valley City jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead thanks to one of the seniors. Alex Thornton hit a three-pointer and a baseline scoop shot and assisted on Peyton Zaun’s bucket to help the Hi-Liners jump out to an early lead. They would expand that lead to nine at 16-7 thanks to an 8-1 run. But Wahpeton would come back and tie the game at 16, one of ten ties in the first half.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo North used a 14-0 run to turn a five point deficit into a nine point lead midway through the second half on the way to a 74-60 come-from-behind win over Valley City Thursday night in boys basketball at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
North led by as much as 11 in the first half at 20-9 after Isaac Cody’s three pointer with 11:09 remaining in the half. Cody was fouled in the act of shooting but missed the free throw to keep it at 11.
Valley City would use a 15-4 run to tie the game at 24 capped off by two free throws by Alex Thornton with 6:09 remaining in the first half.
