Denver International Airport Expects 80% Increase In Travelers Over Memorial Day 2020

Denver International Airport Expects 80% Increase In Travelers Over Memorial Day 2020 CBS Denver 1 hr ago Syndicated Local – CBS Denver DENVER (CBS4)– Air travel is on the rebound, and staff members at Denver International Airport are expecting a distinct difference this Memorial Day weekend, compared to last year. DIA said there is an 80% increase in travelers from last year. “It’s really evident in the numbers. There’s an 80% increase in travelers from last year to this year,” said spokeswoman Alex Renteria. She shared the statistics with CBS4’s Mekialaya White on a Zoom call. “From today to June 1, about 325,000 passengers are forecasted to travel through DIA. That’s compared to 67,000 over the same week in 2020. The year before that, when things were normal, more than 400,000 passengers traveled through DIA.”

Denver Airport New Mask Rules COVID Safety Update

In DIA Is a COVID-19 Safety Joke, I recapped my recent experience at Denver International Airport, where mask use was spotty, social distancing was lousy in part because of ongoing construction that shrank the available space, and a train ride from a distant gate that was so crowded, passengers were packed more tightly than Dippin Dots. I reached out to DIA for a response to my observations, and the airport s reply deflected much of the blame for the problems onto travelers rather than taking responsibility for the often sorry situation which is likely to get worse, owing to widespread confusion over the latest guidance from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in regard to facial coverings and social distancing.
