Friends Alex Patience, Portskerra, Sue McQueen and Hilary Wilson, both Reay, undertook a roadside litter pick-up.
They devoted their lunch hour and lockdown exercise time to the not so pleasant task of clearing detritus from a short stretch of the A836 from Melvich to Reay.
The road forms part of tourism route North Coast 500, although there are curently few visitors because of the pandemic.
The women were careful to observe lockdown restrictions, working at the required social distance from each other.
