Rangers will be asked by the Romanian FA over whether they will release Ibrox star Ianis Hagi for this summer’s Olympic Games in Japan, according to a prominent journalist.
According to Emanuel Roşu, the Gers will have to make a decision over whether to allow Hagi to go to the Games and likely miss out on the start of the Gers’ Champions League qualifying campaign.
Steven Gerrard’s side kick off their bid for a place in the Champions League groups on the same day as the Olympic semi-finals, but with Hagi potentially missing out on several weeks of pre-season with the Gers, they may opt to keep him in Scotland.

Rangers look like being without Ianis Hagi for their vital Champions League qualifiers later this year as the Romanian international gets set to represent his country at this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Gers kick off their return to European football’s elite club competition on August 3/4 but Hagi and his compatriots will be in the Far East at the delayed Games.
Romania have a minimum of three fixtures in Japan facing Honduras, South Korea and then New Zealand from July 22-28.
Rangers coach Michael Beale blown away by Ianis Hagi after new exit rumour
Rangers will hope Ianis Hagi stays at the club this summer, after new rumours linked him with a move away from Ibrox.
Gazzetta Dello Sport reported last week that Lazio are once again interested in signing Hagi, with sporting director Igli Tare believed to be a big fan.
Lazio have been linked many times before, and the report suggests that a deal could be done for around €10million (£8.5million), more than twice the £3million Rangers paid last summer.

Welcome back to the Champions League, where Chelsea take on familiar foes and, in some respects given all the business we’ve done with each other over the past decade not to mention all the eyelash-batting at Diego Simeone during that time, almost familial foes, too.
That said, Atléti have shed every last one of their ex-Chelsea lot, at least temporarily, for this season. That they are leading La Liga comfortably is probably just a coincidence . or, should I say,
