The Akyem Aperade road, which according to the residents had not been tarred since Ghana’s independence, serves as a link road to many major towns and cities including Accra to Oda, Oda to Assin Fosu, Assin Fosu to Kumasi, and Assin Fosu to Takoradi.

Soldier Builds Transit Accommodation For GAF

  The construction of a transit accommodation at the Headquarters of the Southern Command, Kpeshie Ridge of the Ghana Armed Forces will soon be completed. When completed, it will address the challenge of lack of accommodation for soldiers based outside Accra but who visit the national capital to perform official duties. The building which will house 96 people at a time and is estimated at a cost of GH¢3 million, is the initiative of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Southern Command, Brigadier General Abraham Yeboah Nsiah, on May 13, 2020. The facility contains a dining hall, ironing rooms, and washrooms with other ancillary facilities.

705 The Citizen Eye Ghana (CITEG), a civil society organisation is calling on President Akufo-Addo to urgently sanction investigations into the alleged thievery of new born babies at some health facilities in the country. According to the group, fishing out the culprits harvesting babies and bringing them to book will serve as a deterrent to other individuals and groups engaged in such acts. Addressing a press conference in Accra on Friday afternoon, January 22, 2021, the President of CITEG, Alex Kwaku Tetteh said it is sad that some health personnel, including nurses and doctors in collaboration with some officials of the Department of Social Welfare will team up to steal and sell new born babies in health facilities.

The group specifically wants the National Chairman, Freddie Blay; the party’s national General Secretary, John Boadu; the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly called Chairman Wontumi; and the Central Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin Jnr to be suspended for their alleged incompetence and poor decisions.
