Swindon Crown Court A DRUNKEN dad struck his daughter’s beau with a shovel – leaving him with a cut that required nine stiches. Manjit Multani, 41, denied dealing the blow with the spade deliberately, claiming that he’d got the shovel out to damage his victim’s car and the injuries were caused when the pair had fought over the tool. Prosecutor Charles Digby said Multani was described by witnesses as ‘storming’ through the home of his estranged wife in Trowbridge on October 18, 2018. Multani told the man, who was said to be interested in his daughter, he didn’t want him there. “He told him to get the f out of his house,” Mr Digby said.

Matthew Smith was arrested for an alleged criminal damage matter on which no further action was taken. When taken into custody he spat out, initially claiming he was clearing snot from his nose due to being sprayed. Smith, 42, of Marling Road in St George, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker in July 9 last year.
