Town boss Mick McCarthy says the Blues will go into Saturday’s vital last game of the regular season at Blackburn Rovers looking for a win, despite only requiring a draw to secure a place in the play-offs for the first time in a decade (Sky Sports 2 from midday, KO 12.15pm).
Boss Roy Keane will assess the fitness of defensive trio Damien Delaney, Gareth McAuley and David Wright in training today before deciding on his side for Saturday’s game at Blackpool. The Town manager will also look at how David Healy and Owen Garvan came through their midweek international matches.
Sub Michael Chopra netted the only goal of the game shortly after the break to see the Blues to an important 1-0 victory over Blackpool at Portman Road. The 29-year-old was sent through by Guirane N’Daw in the 50th minute and confidently took his chance.
David McGoldrick’s 55th minute penalty saw Town to a 1-0 home victory over Bolton. The Blues top scorer had been hauled back by Trotters’ keeper Andy Lonergan after he had dropped a high ball.
